Twitter wins battle over ownership of ‘tweet’ trademark

The word “tweet” is to become a registered trademark of the online messaging service Twitter, it has emerged.

Executives at the firm said they had resolved a long-running legal dispute over ownership of the term by US advertising company Twittad.

Twitter Quietly Building Toward a Loud IPO

While much of the IPO buzz is about Zynga, Groupon and Facebook, another company is also prepping for a mega-offering: Twitter.

 

The process has been mostly quiet, but we are starting to see some signs of the process. For example, last week, Twitter’s early board members — Fred Wilson and Bijan Sabet — resigned from their posts. Even the chief scientist, Abdur Chowdhury, is leaving.

Twitter dating: Even in 140 characters, love can bloom

Annapolis resident John Frenaye’s Twitter account, @eyeonannapolis, is pretty standard fare.

Frenaye tweets about events in town (the Silopanna festival) and breaking news (car accident in Crofton). And there are some personal details, like when a recent stop at Taco Bell “hit the spot.”

 

But there’s nothing on his account about what he looks like — or what he looks for in a romantic partner. He wasn’t looking for love, at least not through Twitter.
