WooBiz business ‘dating’ site launches in Devon

A new company has been launched in Devon to match up business people using technology from dating websites.

WooBiz aims to bring like-minded businesses together to achieve economic development, the company founders said.

The website had been launched in Totnes and is expected to be rolled-out throughout Devon, the West Country and then across the UK.

Peter Rouse, a former lawyer and web entrepreneur, came up with the idea behind www.woobiz.co.uk with business partner James Furse.

He said: “I was looking for a way of creating a forum for business people to come together, pool their resources and create successful new ventures.”

The partners worked closely with the founder of WooMate, Edward Hodge, and uses technology developed by the online dating site.

Partner Furse said: “Like any new personal partnership, a new business partnership is based on trust, honesty and shared goals.

“WooBiz places great emphasis on creating meetings of minds backed by shared principles, morals and beliefs through its search and matching technology.”

The new website is aimed at a local, regional and national audience, the founders said.
